Almost three years after the establishment of the centralized Results Delivery Office we are pleased to announce the creation of functional RDO franchises called Functional Transformation Offices (FTO). These FTOs will continue Amgen’s transformation and help to embed it back to the business. Amgen wishes to launch the creation of these FTOs with several business performance roles in Q3 and Q4 of 2016. These Business Performance positions within the FTOs will work to bring the transformation further into each functional area, working closely with the leaders of a major function and the Results Delivery Office. The FTO agenda is set by the Functional EVP and his/her Senior Leadership Team. The FTO is focused on supporting improved business performance, target achievement and strategic initiatives that are key to Amgen’s future performance. The position will have regular interaction with senior leadership and lead teams to solve complex problems.

There will be an FTO for each of the four major functions across Amgen (GCO, R&D, Ops, G&A). The successful candidate will support a portfolio of high-priority functional improvement opportunities by providing transformational subject matter expertise and working with key stakeholders in the business, drive high priority improvement opportunities through the use of Amgen Full Potential (AFP) process and toolkit, develop approaches to improve productivity and implement comprehensive change strategies to transform the organization and enable it to adapt to business challenges. Each of the FTOs will implement programmatic systems and processes developed by the Continuing AFP’s Transformation initiative, advance organizational transformation capability development, and execute projects to continue the AFP transformation in the function. These activities will help ensure long term success and adoption of transformational capabilities within the function.

Key Responsibilities:
Amgen Full Potential Capability, Tool Support, Coaching and Application – Develop expertise in the theory and practice of AFP methodology and tools. Act as a resource to the function for use of AFP tools and methodology to solve business problems.
Cross sub-functional initiative support – lead teams to solve complex business problems using the Amgen Full Potential Methodology. The role of the FTO member will be to guide the team in the AFP methodology, drive innovative transformational thinking, ensure fair process, escalate issues, and ensure high quality deliverables in line with the AFP process
Governance Gating and Process Oversight – Manage the functional AFP governance process ensuring the proper training and coaching for sponsors, adherence to the gating process, fair process review of options and presentation of ideas, monitoring / validation of project team deliverables at gates.
Valuation and Validation – business case support for teams to value ideas, options and investments. Validation of results realized, methodology used, and long term sustainability of improvements.
Idea & Project Portfolio Management – Support idea generation in functions to ensure a pipeline of ongoing projects and pending ideas to align with short and long term targets.
Tracking and Reporting – track and report project status as required by the results delivery office for corporate role up and review. Additionally, functional tracking may be required per the local functional leader.


Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 4 years of Scientific, Operations or Business experience
OR
Master’s degree and 8 years of Scientific, Operations or Business experience
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of Scientific, Operations or Business experience
AND
4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate Degree in Business, Science, Finance and/or Technology
5+ years of experience in biotechnology/pharmaceutical
9+ years of cross-functional consulting, project management , and/or Liaison experience
Experience at a top tier Management Consulting Firm
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to storyline and prepare executive-level discussion documents
Excellent conceptual problem solving skills with demonstrated ability to bring structure to vaguely defined problems, pragmatically scope problem solving approach, and manage execution
Strong quantitative and qualitative analytic skills
Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to influence different styles
Experience as a member of a high performing team
Experience with Amgen Full Potential or other business transformation
