Position Details 

The Vice President of Corporate Quality at ConMet is a newly created, executive leadership position responsible for establishing, implementing, and continuously improving a best-in-class corporate quality assurance program. The VP of Corporate Quality will serve as the “face of ConMet quality” while leading our efforts to maximize customer satisfaction and create positive impacts on our company’s overall operational and financial performance.
 
The primary duties and responsibilities of this role include:
  • Develop effective and sustainable partnerships with all key stakeholders—including plant leadership, ConMet functional leaders, and customers—to improve manufacturing plant quality systems and customer quality performance metrics through benchmarking, assessments and best practices.
  • Collaborate with various New Product Introduction (NPI) engineering teams to ensure quality deliverables are developed and implemented for all manufacturing sites. Ensure potential risks are managed and communicated appropriately.
  • Lead the overall activities and deliverables of the ConMet Warranty team. 
  • Interface with the quality team members of our customers concerning all product quality issues and ensure corrective actions are implemented in an appropriate manner. 
  • Lead TS 16949 compliance activities in our Corporate HQ office to support all manufacturing sites. Partner with manufacturing plants to ensure the implementation of quality systems as well as ensure continuous process improvement. Lead and/or assist teams in preparing for audits. 
  • Support manufacturing plants in resolution of customer quality problems employing robust corrective action processes when needed. Serve as management representative to customer for critical corrective actions and recurring quality status reviews.
  • Advance a strong company culture of Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) reduction through effective communication, training and continuous process improvement with our manufacturing plants and all other stakeholders. 
  • Participate in applicable external and internal quality audits. 
  • Develop and execute a progressive long-term strategy to ensure ConMet Quality initiatives effectively address manufacturing plant performance issues.
  • Serve as the lead communication channel from the plants to executive management regarding high level reporting, customer issues and other aspects of ConMet’s quality initiatives. 
  • Lead the monthly plant corporate quality review meetings.
  • Function as a leader and a coach to direct and indirect reports; cascade company and functional goals and hold team members accountable.
Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA, Masters or other technical graduate degree highly preferred
  • 15 or more years of progressive experience in Quality Assurance required (including five or more years in the manufacturing quality arena required)
  • 10 or more years of experience in progressive leadership roles required; experience in a high-level corporate quality leadership role (VP, Senior Director or Director) highly preferred
  • Automotive and/or Trucking manufacturing experience highly preferred
  • Extensive experience with AIAG quality techniques:  PPAP, APQP, FMEA, et al.
  • Six Sigma, CQE, CQM or other applicable quality certifications preferred 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, emphasizing interpersonal, group presentation, and team facilitation skills
  • Strong executive presence as well as excellent customer-facing communication skills
  • Proven track record of leading effective corporate change initiatives and quality development.
  • Ability to travel to all ConMet manufacturing facilities globally
