Job Summary
Position is an intermediate level role, requiring previous experience in Descriptive Analytics. Position accountable for performing moderately complex core tasks of Descriptive Analytics (the exploration and investigation of past business performance), partnering with team members on more complex tasks. This job does not manage others This job works under General Supervision: Incumbent independently performs a variety of duties, including potentially complex duties within established policy guidelines; responsible for a defined set of assignments (e.g. assigned customers, claims or other specified set of responsibilities); is expected to set priorities and meet specific goals and objectives of the function or unit. (Typically pertains to advanced/operational, senior professional, unit supervisor)

Marketing Description

The Marketing Analytics team analyzes customer and marketing data, designs unbiased test and learns, oversees marketing campaign execution, delivers post monitoring on business initiatives, provides analytics support to our Marketing partners and liaisons with the Customer, Ops and Distribution teams.


This position will:

  • Interface with business stakeholders to provide analytic support and to help develop and execute loyalty/retention marketing initiatives for the personal insurance organization
  • Design marketing/consumer outreach tests and recommends metrics to measure effectiveness of such campaigns in order to continually learn from the tests.
  • Mine large datasets to generate actionable insights that can improve customer value.
  • Evaluate quality of predictive models and suggest ways to improve accuracy of such models using new or existing data sources
  • Communicate findings to stakeholders using appropriate exhibits


Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Applies descriptive analytics to analyze data and validate assumptions, understands results. Selects appropriate relevant data and extracts from various internal and external sources. May identify sources. Manipulates raw data sets into information fit for analysis applying needed logic. Presents analysis and recommendations to team members and manager. Supports presentation to business partners. Supports developing reports to monitor business critical results and transitions to appropriate area for continuing production i.e. information development and or data management. Provides required analysis, partnering with team members as needed. Participates in the peer review process. Utilizes established best practices around Descriptive Analytics. May provide guidance to others on assignments. Manages assigned less complex projects under minimal guidance of manager and/or team members. May manage moderately complex projects under general guidance of a manager. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Two years of analytics experience required.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Bachelors degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) preferred. Three years of analytics or related experience preferred. Three years working successfully with Microsoft office products or similar products preferred. General knowledge of analytic concepts. Experience with Descriptive Analytic practices and processes. General business knowledge preferred. Developing knowledge of Insurance products/concepts preferred. Experience working on teams. General knowledge of the main features of the collection of data and the relationship of data elements to each other.

General understanding of the business functions of businesses supported. Demonstrated intermediate analytic and diagnostic skills. Demonstrated intermediate interpersonal skills. Demonstrated intermediate communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Intermediate project management skills General understanding of the business functions, processes, and overall business strategies Desire to see tasks to completion. Intermediate Computer Skills in Excel and basic skills in database programming language and/or related applications. Intermediate problem solving and decision making skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Proficient in data mining using SQL, SAS or any such programming/scripting language
Drive to learn new techniques/skills
Data processing and manipulation in Excel
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Prior experience with insurance or marketing/consumer initiatives
Understanding of basic machine learning techniques including classification and regression
