Medical Dosimetrist II

The Medical Dosimetrist II is a member of the radiation oncology team and generates radiation dose distributions and dose calculations (in collaboration with the Medical Physicist and Radiation Oncologist) for the treatment of cancer patients. The Medical Dosimetrist II designs treatment plans by means of computer and/or manual computation to determine a treatment field technique that delivers the radiation oncologist’s prescribed radiation dose while limiting loss of important healthy organ function.  Communicates treatment plans to Radiation Oncologist for approval and to Radiation Therapist for plan implementation. Works with radiation therapists in the implementation of the patient treatment plans, including but not limited to the correct application of immobilization devices, beam modification devices, approved field arrangements and other treatment variables. Contributes to clinical research for the development and implementation of new techniques in cancer treatment, program goals and continuous process improvement. Mentors junior Medical Dosimetrists and other members of radiation oncology team.

 

The ideal Candidate for the Medical Dosimetrist II must have strong knowledge of radiation safety and current rules and regulations of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Strong knowledge of the technical aspects of radiation oncology and medical physics to derive accurate and timely computerized treatment plans.

Qualifications

•  Graduate of an accredited program

•  Certified by Medical Dosimetry Certification Board as a Medical Dosimetrist

•  3+ years experience

•  Basic Life Support (BLS)
