Job Summary
The Advanced Flight Deck Systems (AFDS) team is seeking a highly motivated Senior Platform Systems Engineer who can leverage existing and develop new technologies to provide innovative systems solutions for the USAF KC-135 platform.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include platform system engineering through all phases of system product development including: program pursuit and capture, requirements capture and analysis, system architecture design, requirements allocation and traceability, system/subsystem integration, system verification, system validation and life-cycle product support. The ability to estimate, track, and report project costs and schedules while managing scope & risk is essential. The candidate must be able to interface with business development, program management, software engineers, product-line systems engineers, hardware engineers and customers. The candidate must be highly motivated and a self-starter.
A successful candidate should have experience working in highly collaborative environments, demonstrate the ability to take ownership of tasks and lead efforts spanning multiple stakeholders, possess exceptional written and oral communications skills, the ability to break down and execute on complex tasks with minimal instructions, and have a keen aptitude for technical work that spans multiple levels of detail. The ideal candidate will have the following:
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline
Able to travel up to 10%
Adaptable to changes in assignments and responsibilities
Ability to collaborate well across multiple disciplines
Highly self-motivated and contributing to a positive work environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong working knowledge of system engineering process
Working knowledge of avionics and navigation principles
Desired:
Experience with the USAF KC-135 platform is highly desired
A robust understanding of systems, software and hardware development processes in an avionics application
Developing and managing the program-level schedule as well as the integrated intermediate level schedule
Leading and coordinating program-level risk management in conjunction with the Program Office
Prior aircraft/platform systems experience with human/machine interface (HUDs, displays and controls), weapons systems, sensor systems, navigation, safety, intelligence and surveillance, voice and data communications, information assurance, flight controls, or digital/analog system interfaces
Knowledge and experience working with Avionics regulatory and certification requirements: TSO, DO-160, DO254, DO-178B/C, and ARP4754.
Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, ALM, DOORs, Subversion, PREP and Agile development methods
