Youth Villages Massachusetts, a growing nonprofit that helps troubled children and their families, is looking for outstanding candidates for the Regional Communications Manager. The Regional Communications Manager will coordinate all communications and public relations plans, programs and projects for Youth Villages New England, including conducting media relations, creating targeted marketing and development communications materials and interviewing children and families to write their success stories. This professional will lead implementation of the state’s strategic communications plan, including being on call 24/7 for journalists and crisis situations. The professional must demonstrate strong relationship and cultivation skills; a strong networker is a benefit. A strong aptitude and past experience in social and conventional media are a necessity. The Regional Communications Manager will support Youth Villages Massachusetts’ goals, including operational, marketing, and fundraising goals, so strong candidates will be self-starters who easily build effective relationships with people and are highly motivated, articulate, proactive and skilled at managing multiple projects simultaneously. The ideal candidate will be a strong media relations professional and newswriter who is also proficient at relationship building both within the organization and externally, extremely proficient at various marketing communications writing styles, including copywriting; proficient at project management and reporting results. Photography skill is a plus. Ideally, we seek a seasoned professional who has earned accreditation in public relations (APR) and who has strong experience in various aspects of communications, including marketing and philanthropic communications, planning and public relations. Our ideal candidate possesses a strong portfolio of work with direct relevant experience that includes successful projects and campaigns that achieved goals with a variety of stakeholder groups.
JOB SUMMARY
The job requires a bachelor's degree with major in public relations, communications, journalism or a related field and a minimum of six years' experience in public relations and marketing communications, with strong media relations experience preferred. Master’s degree and accreditation in public relations (APR) are preferred.
