Senior Usability Researcher
Portland, OR
The Usability Researcher for HealthSparq drives an inclusive program of user experience testing and analysis to support web and mobile development projects. Responsibilities will include creating strategy and operational integrity for User Experience (UX) testing within the development cycle in addition to design and execution of a wide range of testing and research activities.
In this role, you will:
• Lead and collaborate closely with interaction designers, graphic designers, editors, product managers, marketing managers, to design, conduct, and analyze user research studies throughout the product cycle.
• Develop site-wide research plans, working closely with product managers and experience architects to identify gaps and opportunities
• Advise project teams in planning user research activities that inform product development and design solutions.
• Coordinate and execute all phases of usability testing (in-house and remote), including developing screeners, consent forms, test plans and interview guides and moderating usability lab sessions.
• Identify strategy, design methodology, craft surveys, provide analysis, and present recommendations.
• Manage and/or perform test recruiting partnering with vendors to recruit external test candidates and business units to recruit partners and members.
• Manage User Experience Dashboard; identify and collect data sources, analyze research data to formulate insights.
• Conduct Contextual Inquiry (Interview, Survey & Focus Group).
• Conduct Ethnographic Research (Field Observation).
• Persona Development & Usage (Scenarios, Opportunity Maps & Mental Models).
• Execute Competitive Assessment.
• Design and conduct Listening Labs & Usability Tests as well as working with User Panels & Communities.
Minimum requirements:
• At least six years experience planning and conducting a variety of user experience and satisfaction research methodologies
• Four year degree in Psychology, Human Factors Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Multi Media/Web Design or related field and/or commensurate experience.
• Proven ability to identify the unknown and design research to get answers.
• Experience presenting research findings and recommendations to all levels of stakeholders, including executive management.
• Experience developing personas and mental models through ethnographic and qualitative research.
• Must be highly organized and be able to juggle and lead multiple user-testing initiatives in varying stages simultaneously.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong relationship-building skills
• Ability to collaborate professionally with all co-workers
• Highly organized. Able to keep on an assigned track without constant supervision
• Ability to self-prioritize effectively, to ensure key items are delivered to meet immediate project need
• Proven ability to estimate project expenses and manage project budgets
• Training and experience in qualitative individual interviews and group moderation
