Community Educations Centers (CEC), is a leading provider of residential reentry and in-prison community corrections programs. Required skills and and Qualifications:

1. Implementation of the CEC therapeutic community treatment model under the direction of the Program Director.
2. Preparation and submission of all treatment and educational outlines, lectures, handouts and other relevant materials as requested by the Program Director for review and approval.
3. Record keeping and daily clinician charting as required by CEC program model and DASA licensing requirements, and/or as requested by IDOC.
4. Administration and Knowledge of educational, substance abuse, and life skills assessment, and integration of results into resident client treatment plan.
5. Participation in all training and supervision activities as provided for CEC staff  and as required by IDOC.
6. Preparation of any schedules, reports, or other information required for the program and requested by the Program Director, Multi-disciplinary Team and IDOC personnrl.
7. As part of the re-entry process, access client aftercare needs/issues and services.
8. Provide counseling to clients' family or significant others as requested by the Program Director or IDOC staff.
9. Coordinate individual clinical care of assigned client caseload.
10. Participate in treatment planning/conferences
11. Observes/supervises client interactions.
12. Provides individual and group therapy/counseling. Meets with assigned clients as necessary.
13. Maintains and updates resident clients records; documents program in charts.
14. Perform ASI Assessments and any other required assessment instruments/pre and post testing, etc.
15. Assists IDOC Staff in monitoring behavior of difficult clients.
16. if not certified, obtain a CADC or reciprocal credential within 2 years of employment.
 
The Substance Abuse Counselor i and II preferably will have a BA degree in psychology, counseling, social work or human services. Relevant experience, Certification and/or training in the field may be substituted for formal education. 
The Substance Abuse Counselor must meet the security requirements for admission to the institution/facility.
Knowledge of and compliance with applicable ethical and professional standards of conduct.

Physical requirements of the job:

The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects or controls or to reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk and smell. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
